Action contre la Faim Canada provides recruitment services to the international network that includes ACF (France), AAH (New York) and Accion contra el Hambre (Madrid) who operate humanitarian aid missions all over the world. AAH in the UK, also part of the international network, works in a similar way to us by providing support to these operations. ACF-Canada focuses on finding qualified Canadians to go on these missions. Our goal is to provide the international network with a pool of qualified candidates who are ready to be deployed on short notice. We interview potential candidates for open positions. Successfully getting through our interview process will get you onto our list of candidates that gets sent out to our international network of recruiters at which point we try to match your experience to the open vacancies across the network.

We also look for volunteers on an ongoing basis for our Montreal headquarters in the areas of : translation, administration, marketing.

 


What are the Benefits of Working for ACF?
  • Canadian contract
  • Fully comprehensive training provided at one of our international headquarters
  • ACF provides a monthly base salary allowance. Level A base salary starts at: $2,053.00 per month and level B (coordinators) starts at $2,602.00 and level C (country directors) starts at : $3,159 and then it is increased depending on an individual's prior experience, deposited into your home bank account. Relevant business and other NGO experience that you have is weighted and given a monetary sum and added onto the base salary. The context and responsibility of your role is also weighted and monetary sum added to your base salary.
  • Increases in salary are available after 12 months and 18 months of service and every year after that based on performance.
  • All expenses paid in the field: transportation, room and board, and living expenses.
  • We also provide a per diem allowance on the field, which is determined according to the living expenses of the country.
  • Full insurance package, including medical insurance, life insurance, travel insurance, medical evacuations and repatriation.
  • Regular Breaks every three to four months while in the field, with transportation provided to a break reference point determined by the mission.
  • Accrual of 2.5 calendar days paid leave per month, which can only be used upon completion of the project, generally after one year if the contract is renewed. If the contract is not renewed then the paid leave will be paid in one lump sum upon completion of the project.
  • A return ticket home is also paid after 1 year.
  • Child allowance is a benefit we pay for children in the field and at home.

Human resources

Develops and applies the mission’s human resources policy and is responsible for all local staff management matters such as salary policies, recruitment and evaluations etc..

Head of mission

Positions the missions overall strategy, coordinates programme implementation, ensures continuity of finance, organizes allocation of available resources and supervises the missions staff.

Nutrition & Health

Runs supplementary feeding centers and implementing nutrition surveys, designing nutrition programmes for supplementary or therapeutic feeding centers, managing and training national staff, collecting information on malnutrition and food security.

Food Security

Distributes food supplies and equipment to populations in need and provides them with the resources they require to produce their own food. Provides training in modern agricultural techniques in order to boost the capacities of the populations concerned.

Logistics

Plans, oversees and handles procurement, purchasing and supply of stock for the missions and for its own operations.. Handles the maintenance of office and transport equipment. Analyzes and monitors the security situation and security procedures. Heads of Base have the added responsibility of managing the base staff including all HR related issues.

Oversees the mission’s accounts, takes care of budget administration matters, cash management and draws attention to any eventual financial risks that might materialize.

Ensures emergency access to safe drinking water and overall sanitation. Finds and taps underground and ground level water sources (boreholes and wells, water distribution networks).

Participates in drawing up the missions’ strategy, makes sure that all programmes implemented respect ACFs codes and standards and ensures the safety and security of all staff and missions assets.

The Raoul-Dandurand Chair of Strategic and Diplomatic Studies at Université of Québec at Montréal (UQAM) was established in 1996 to conduct research, training, information dissemination and consultation with universities, government agencies, international organizations, the private sector and the community. The Chair’s studies centers : the Center for United States Studies, the Center for Peace Missions Studies, the Center for Geopolitical Studies and the Center for Middle East Studies.

Managers Without Borders

Proud partner of AAH, Managers Without Borders is a non-profit organization founded in 2005 which facilitates the participation of students trained in administration in cooperative and humanitarian aid projects in developing countries through medium and long-term internships. Through its action, Managers Without Borders aim to support young managers of the world as global citizens.
